PARISH FINANCE COMMITTEE  The committee has produced detailed accounts of the parish finances to 31st March 2009 and copies are available in the narthex. We can all be grateful to the members of the committee, Barbara Nicholson, Miles Cunningham and Richard Dalton for the careful work they undertake on behalf of us all. We are in stringent times and this is reflected in the figures; Offertory Income has reduced by 5.5% which probably reflects the difficulties we are all experiencing due to the extreme economic conditions over the past couple of years. Though our income is less our bills do not fall. Expenditure was high as a result of the expensive work we had to carry out on the Hall and the Clubroom resulting in our over all position being £10,500.00 worse off than the previous year. I hope and pray that every parishioner will think of remembering St Teresa’s Parish in their will. It is due to past legacies that we pay no interest on the amount the diocese has advanced to us to make sure that essential work can be carried out. I know that we all love our church and appreciate that all our parish buildings are expensive to maintain. If you can’t give more now you could look to give a bit in your will. Another way is the Gift Aid scheme which is very simple to put into practice. If you are a tax payer, by signing a Gift Aid Declaration any amount you give to the church benefits by the return of the income tax you have paid. Your gift has to be recordable i.e. by envelope, by bank standing order or by cheque. From April 2010 we shall all be better off because the Government is to reduce the basic rate of income tax by 2p. This windfall to each taxpayer can be passed on to the parish by increasing the amount you give to the parish.
