REMEMBER REMEMBER DANK NOVEMBER  This is a grim time of the year in our climate. Apart from the seasonal complaints, we all feel a bit low and a small group of parishioner’s are seriously ill in hospital. Please keep Alma Broom-Smith  Norman Tench and Susan Soane in your prayers, each has a strong faith thank God and they are letting the light of Faith shine from their hospital bed. Deacon Richard Carr is not well and preparing for major surgery later this month. Then there are the parishioners who are in the retirement homes – Icknield Court and Ker Maria and they are visited regularly by one of our Deacons, With Richard being not well a greater load will fall on Brian and Sean. Two things are clear to me: 1. We are going to need more parishioners to come forward and help. If we all feel that this is our parish the we shall want to help. To paraphrase President John F. Kennedy don’t look at what the parish can do for you _ rather look at what you can do for the parish. I have asked Brian and Sean to ponder and pray about parishioners who they feel could help them in their deaconal ministry. I would ask all parishioners to ponder and pray about how they could help the ministry of our parish … how they could help the Light of Christ to Shine.

2. It would be wonderful if we had some eligible candidates in training for ordination as deacons but if the ordained ministry is lacking then we need to develop our sense that Christ’s presence, His ministry, is entrusted to all the baptised. In previous generations there was the attitude that only the ordained had any real say, any real role. That was never right and we can’t allow it to remain in our lived understanding of our parish. For my part I shall continue to be at your service for as long as the good Lord chooses. If you need me at any time of the day or night just make contact … please. Don’t be put off ! The parish deacons can be contacted and they will always know how to contact me on your behalf.
