THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY this coming Friday is one of the joys of our Catholic way of life ... where we live it is in the summer (and is often a lovely day) and it is a Holyday of Obligation.  May we look at Mary crowned as Queen in heaven because at the end of her life on earth she was taken, body and soul, to heaven.  We delight for her and rejoice at the thought that we hope to join her with Jesus when our time comes.  I find it inspiring to think of the great pilgrimage centres like Rome, Lourdes and Walsingham packed with the Catholic faithful for the Assumption.  It is a thrilling sight to see so many.  The imagination is a powerful aid in our life of faith … so we picture Mary in heaven and picture the Catholic world everywhere celebrating the Assumption on 15th August.  Come to Mass, come to celebrate and ask for Mary’s intercession.

YOUTH MINISTRY IS FLOURISHING IN OUR PARISH and I know that apart from our present catechists, there are many other parishioners who are very interested in the welfare and faith development of our young people. Some have indicated that they would be willing to help out occasionally – maybe just two or three times a year and others are now thinking of helping at one of the groups on a weekly/monthly basis during term time. There will be an open meeting in Walsingham Hall on Sunday, 7th September, after the 10.00 a.m. Mass. You are all invited to come along and hear how ‘the system’ works and to see if your heart is stirred to help all our lovely young people.

THE C.A.F.O.D. PROJECT GROUP  will be hosting a Garden Party in the Presbytery garden on Saturday, 30th August at 4.00pm. Tickets will be on sale over the next three weeks after the weekend Masses or you can reserve tickets by calling Paula on 01844 273134. Tickets – Adults (12 & older) £5, Children £2.50. All proceeds will be going towards the Rehabilitation of Child Soldiers Project.

TRAIDCRAFT Fairtrade goods will be on sale after each Mass this weekend (9th & 10th August) in the clubroom. If you have not bought from us recently, please feel free to come in and see what we have in stock.

MONEY MONEY   Offertory £754.24, Retiring Collection £62.08, Cafod £4.70. God bless your support for your Church.

Love and prayers,
