MONDAY, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, is an important day for parishioners of St. Teresa’s.  On 11th February, 1923 Mass was celebrated in Princes Risborough for the first time since the Reformation.  Te Deum Laudamus.

IT IS NOT TOO LATE to have a good start to Lent.  It is still early days!  Through prayer, personal discipline and almsgiving as a community at St. Teresa’s we seek to awaken in us a better sense of our baptism.  We have been saved!  So we are not to be deluded by the old Devil and he can make the slippery slope seem very attractive.  Now is the time to resist him as Jesus did with the power of the Holy Spirit.

THANK GOD for our beautiful church.  So many people have told me over the years that our church, as a sacred space, inspires them to pray, to meet God.  The shape itself is for many quite wonderful; for me it is made, transformed, by the artefacts which lift us to God.  The Stations of the Cross, the Triptych, the Sacred Heart and wonderfully the millennium stained glass windows.  A booklet of the stained glass in our church is nearly ready and I hope it will serve two main purposes: allow us to look at them, be reminded of their biblical inspiration, to pray over them and for parishioners who are no longer able to get to church to have a copy at home.  Our Stations of the Cross booklet was paid for by a parishioner.  I wonder if any parishioner would like to consider paying for the stained glass booklet?  Just have a quiet word with me if you feel drawn to this.

CAFOD Lent Fast Day Lent is a time for personal reflection and for changing ourselves. This coming Fast Day Friday February 15th we think about changing the way we relate to creation. In many CAFOD - funded projects, people are caring for the earth and seeking alternative livelihoods. This is not about lifestyle – it’s a matter of survival. If we believe creation is a gift from God to be cherished, then climate change is a dire warning that we should be treading more lightly on Gods earth. You can help, by giving up something this Fast Day and donating the money you saved to CAFOD. Fast Day envelopes will be handed out after each Mass this weekend. They will be collected back next weekend. Please don’t forget to fill in the Gift Aid details if you are a taxpayer.

MONEY, MONEY.  Offertory £878.72, Retiring Collection £29.95, Cafod £8.00.  Next weeks retiring collection will be for CAFOD’s Family Fast Day. God bless your support for your parish.

Love and prayers,
