THE BAPTISM OF OUR LORD marks the beginning of His public ministry. Having received the Holy Spirit He is ready to preach His Good News. Keeping the memory of Our Lord’s Baptism can help us think of ours and the power we received from God to be His presence in the world. The sense of that power unfolds for us as we grow up and come to lead our Catholic way of life – come to own this Catholic life, let it become the light by which we live.

WELCOME FATHER TOM KENNY who so kindly comes so that I can have a few days off. He will be saying Mass for you this week and next week-end. I am personally very grateful to my old friend, Tom, for coming so faithfully and I know that I speak for all those who love our parish when I express my gratitude to Fr. Tom for the graces he brings to us through his priestly ministry.

SPEAKING OF OLD FRIENDS  I am in regular contact with Father Pat Brannan S.J. and he recalls the happy times that we spent together in Cambridge, Cardiff and Rome as well as here in St. Teresa’s. He keeps pretty well thank God despite advancing years and is very happy to be doing pastoral work in Philadelphia.

THE YEAR OF ST PAUL.  Sister Helen was here the other day to prepare for the day she will be giving us on Saturday, 24th January (arrivals 10.30am – finish by 4.00pm). It promises to be a really helpful encounter with St Paul who became completely “sold” on Jesus Christ.  As we shall be providing a simple lunch as part of the day we need to know the numbers of those who intend to attend.  There is a sign up list in the narthex for your use.

THE CHURCH DEVELOPMENT FUND.  It is now time to renew your subscription to the monthly scheme for 2009.  Renewal slips are in a box in the Narthex. If you are already a member you will find your renewal slip in an envelope in the box with your name on it, if you are not but would like to join please take a pink slip from the back of the same box.

THE CHILDRENS CATECHISM GROUP  are now back from the Christmas break and will start again this Tuesday, 13th January at 4.00pm in the clubroom.

CAFOD PROJECT GROUP.  There will be a CAFOD group meeting on Monday, 12th January at 7.30 in Ker Anna.  All new members are very welcome.

MONEY MONEY   Offertory £633.25, Retiring Collection £25.65 and CAFOD £2.00.  God bless your support for your Church.

Love and prayers,
