EDUCATION IN THE FAITH   for your children is of huge importance to you and to our parish. Over 20 adult parishioners help throughout the programme of sharing what St Teresa’s offers. The main work though is done by parents, brothers and sisters in the home. The parish builds on ‘what is done in the home’ – the parish would not achieve much unless the ground were not prepared in the home. Children learn lessons which last a life time in their home. If parents have a loving attitude to each other and a loving attitude to the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives then the children will notice and benefit. Shortly we shall produce a list of the various stages of religious learning in our parish so watch this space. It is hoped, knowing what efforts the parish makes will help parents and families to have a clear idea of what is expected of them and how they can help by having a positive attitude to what  the parish is …… to have a sense of ownership of the parish and communicate this to their children.

SCHOOL AND PARISH COMMUNITY DAY  Last year St. Teresa’s School invited all the children from the Parish to join them in celebrating the life of St Paul. This year they are dedicating the day to stained glass windows; looking at the ways in which this particular art form can be used to represent stories from scripture. Joe Nuttgens, the artist who designed and made the stained glass in St Teresa’s church has kindly agreed to come and talk to the children about his work. Children of the Parish are invited.

The school would be delighted for any of the parish children up to year 6 to join them for activities and Mass on Friday 23rd October and for the parents to join them at Mass in the church at 2.30pm. If you require a letter requesting permission of absence from your child’s school for this day please speak to Jean O’Brien.

PETITION  After each mass this weekend you will have the opportunity to sign a petition objecting to a proposal to allow abortion facilities to be advertised on radio and television.

ST TERESA’S CHURCH CHRISTMAS FEST  will be on 28th November this year.

If you are just thinking about making your Christmas cake could you please make one for the Fest. As you know the cake stall is very popular and the more cakes, biscuits and pastries you bake for it, the more successful it will be on the day.

We also need new toys for the children’s tombola, bottles for the SVP and school tombola, Tins of biscuits, chocolates, plants and bottles for the raffle. Thank you for always supporting this great fund raising event with such generosity, good will and enthusiasm.
