Offertory –
THE LORD IS WAITING FOR US TO OPEN THE
DOOR OF OUR HEARTS Picture the lovely painting by Holman Hunt “Christ the Light of the World” Our Saviour stands
holding a light before a door which has no handle. The message is powerful and
simple. He can only come in if we open the door from the inside. To open the door is
itself a wonderful grace. Advent especially is the acceptable time. The Lord is
waiting for us to open to Him. We can do that especially through the Sacrament
of Penance i.e. confession. We meet our Lord in all the Sacraments – Confession
is a wonderful encounter with the loving, tender, forgiving Jesus. If you
cannot make the Mass of Reconciliation next Saturday 20th December
then come at the usual Saturday evening
slot ,or anytime, just call.
THE ADVENT SERVICE this Sunday afternoon at 4.00pm is an opportunity for us all to gather, to listen, to pray and to sing.
The Advent service is a special
grace for us all, just by coming, making the journey to our church, we show
that we want to open the door to our hearts. To experience Our Lord’s presence
in our community of faith is a wonderful and powerful grace. Don’t miss it !!
THE GREAT CHRISTMAS CLEAN will take place this coming Thursday, 18th
December after the 10.00 a.m. Mass. All
are welcome to come along – the more who help out, the less time it will
take. John Roach has bravely agreed to
step into
CAFOD PROJECT A big thank you to everyone for the support and
generosity you have given the CAFOD project yet again this year. A total of just over £5000.00 was raised
and this could not have been achieved without your help. Thank you also to all
those who help so tirelessly with the fundraising, your efforts are greatly
appreciated. The money raised will go a long way in providing much needed help
to those children who through no fault of their own, have been caught up in a
war that was beyond their control.
CHURCH OPENING The group that are on rota for morning opening of the church will take their usual Christmas
break. They will break up on 19th
December and start again on 5th
January.
MONEY MONEY Offertory £776.11, Retiring Collection £30.20 and CAFOD
£3.06. God bless your support for
your Church.
Love and prayers,
