CONGRATULATIONS to the children who make their First
Holy Communion this Sunday. Well
done too, their parents and the catechists who have prepared them. First Holy
Communion is an important stage in our life of faith and many Catholics keep a
very special memory of it. For our patron St. Teresa of the Child Jesus it was
sheer delight for her to meet Jesus in this way for the first time. Holy Communion was an
important strength to her during the illness which led to her death at the age
of 24. Her life she said was to love Jesus and to do all she could to make
others love Him. She succeeded wonderfully because “The Story of a Soul”has spread her fame throughout the world – her little
book has been translated into scores of languages. Her death bed was a very
Holy place – made Holy by the Blessed Eucharist which she received as often as
she could. May the First Holy Communion of our children this week end, and the
memory of St. Teresa, serve to remind us that we should long to receive Holy
Communion as the food of our souls. It is good to pray that we shall receive
Our Lord in Holy Communion when our life on earth draws to a close. Viaticum –
our Lord with us on the journey into eternal life. Remember what St. Teresa
said “ I am not dying, I am entering into life”….
WELL DONE ALL THOSE WHO CAME TO THE CIVIC SERVICE It was super to have our church full of parishioners and of
