I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE.  This is my Body, Our Lord said over the bread, this is My Blood over the wine.  The priest says after the Consecration, Let us proclaim the mystery of faith.  The mystery, i.e. what is hidden, is that the bread is no more, the wine is no more.  The mystery of faith is that the bread and wine have become the Body and Blood of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour.  There is quite a small group of First Holy Communicants this year, just 12.  The catechists asked that they have their own Mass at 1.00 p.m.  Come and support them with your prayers and example.  Everyone is welcome and to the Reception in the garden afterwards.  Parishes are like families … celebrations are good for everyone.  We the grown ups have the huge privilege of helping the children to see what our faith means to us.

MOST PRIESTS take a day off a week – something I have not been able to do since my curate days in Cambridge in the 60’s.  I am being urged to have one day a week when I do not say Mass in the church.  Though reluctant I can see the sense in this.  It will usually be a Monday starting the week after next.  There will, of course, be a Service of Word and Communion on the day I do not say Mass.  More about this next week.  May I say again that the deacons all know how to contact me in an emergency.  Thanks for your understanding.

YOUTH TALENT SHOW.  Many thanks to all of the young people who have volunteered their time, talent and enthusiasm in the opening stages of the fund raising talent show. Unfortunately due to a limited response, we do not, at this stage, have enough material to be able to go ahead in June. But please do not be disappointed, we are only postponing this concert until later in the year when we will hopefully have drummed up a little more interest. Thanks once again to those who have supported this youth project and watch this space for a new date.

TRAIDCRAFT will be on sale in the club room after each of the Masses next weekend.

APF Annual Reunion Mass is to be held on Sunday, 1st June at St. Joseph’s Church, Maidenhead at 2.30 p.m.  If you would like to take part please contact Gladys on 01844-342231.

MONEY MONEY   Offertory £670.19, Retiring collection £12.50, CAFOD £2.00.    God bless your support for your Church.

Love and prayers,
