A BIG WELCOME to Fr. Tom Kenny who is here this weekend.  We did not quite get our dates right so Tom has to leave on Monday.  He will be back later in the year when I go to Scotland for the wedding of Kirstie Griffin, Carole and Jim’s daughter.  So it will be Word & Communion this coming week when I am away on Retreat.  I am so glad that more parishioners are gathering for the Word & Communion Service.  Our Lord is truly present in our parish community.  We see Him and meet Him in each other.  That’s something wonderful to pray about and to ponder and to thank God for.  I know too that our fellow Catholics in St. Teresa’s parish are a powerful consolation for us when times are bad and it is lovely too to have friends in the parish with whom we can share our joys.  Praise the Lord!

AND NOW THE RETREAT at Hawkstone Hall.  Deacon Brian Stoker will be driving Ann Harding, Celia Sparkes and me up to Shropshire to sit at the feet of Fr. Daniel O’Leary.  Pray for us please and we shall not forget you.  Prayer does work!  Ask Philip O’Toole whose little granddaughter has been pronounced clear of the cancer from which she was suffering.  Praise God.  Pray for Brian, Celia, Ann and me that we be better human beings after our Retreat.  I remember Monsignor Ronald Knox saying to priests that there can’t be good priests unless there are good men.  Good priests, and good bishops … act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly.  That’s a pretty good indication, according to the prophet Micah, of what it takes to be a good person.

LIGHTHOUSE Commissioning Service on Sunday, 27th July at 6 p.m. in the Big Top in the Upper School sports field at the top of New Road (up the hill bythe Fire Station).  All are welcome to help us celebrate the start of Lighthouse and pray for all those involved (helpers and children attending) in Lighthouse Risborough 2008.  If anyone is able to make cakes for their Comforts tent during Lighthouse week, please contact Ingrid Gardner on 01844-347996.

IFUNDA PARISH, TANZANIA.  As mentioned last week, Fr. Alfons Mhamilawa has a huge task looking after his enormous parish and he has been helped greatly by Herta and Alfons Walser and their friends and I think we should help too.  This week’s retiring collection will be in aid of Fr. Alfons’ parish in Tanazania.

END OF YEAR PARTY FOR STT’S FC.  All those who are in Years 4, 5 and 6 are welcome to come, even if you have been unable to join us at any other time during the past year.  All are meeting in the Walsingham Hall this Sunday (27th July) from 4 – 6 p.m.  Do come and join in the fun.

THE CAFOD GROUP are having a cake sale after each of the weekend Masses next weekend and all proceeds will be going towards this year’s project - Rehabilitation of Child Soldiers.

MONEY MONEY   Offertory £993.25.05, Retiring Collection £40.10.and Cafod £14.00. This week’s Retiring collection will be in aid of Ifunda Parish in Tanzania.  God bless your support for your Church.

Love and prayers,
