THE MONTH OF MAY is dedicated, by Catholics, to Mary, the Blessed Virgin Mother of God.  Our statue of Mary will be crowned this Sunday and you will notice that the statue has been robed – thanks to Teresa Aldis and Sandra Heffron.  Mary is precious to us because she was chosen to be the Mother of God.  If, as I hope, you have a statue or a picture at home honouring Mary why not use the month of May to give them some prominence as many of us did in our childhood.  You could perhaps say the Rosary at home – either together or on your own.  Our relationship with Mary is like our human relationships – they thrive on taking the trouble to express them with prayers and little gifts, e.g. flowers.  It does not really matter what we do to honour Mary so long as what we do comes from our hearts.  I love the hymn ‘Holy light on earth’s horizon’ and say it or sing it to myself every day.  I shall make a special point of this during the month of May.  The rosary is said after the 10.15 a.m. service on Saturday mornings – perhaps during May you could make a point of coming for that.

PRO LIFE WITNESS. You are invited to join those who will be gathering on Wednesday 7th May between 12 noon and 1.00pm for the monthly public witness and prayer outside entrance 4 of Stoke Mandeville Hospital to pray for the cessation of abortions in our local hospital and throughout the U K.

A.P.F. RED BOX HOLDERS. If you have not had yours delivered you will find a large brown envelope with your name on in the letter rack in the Narthex. Please return it to the Church at your convenience, or if you would like it to be collected please telephone Gladys on 01844 342231, thank you.

CAFOD PROJECT GROUP. A big thank you to everyone who supported the CAFOD lunch on Sunday by both your attendance and donations. A total of £615.00 was raised and will be going towards this year’s Rehabilitation of Child Soldiers project. Also a heartfelt thank you to the many hands that helped clean the hall on Saturday to make it useable for the lunch on Sunday, and to those who helped with the food and preparation and clearing away afterwards.  Your help, as ever, is very much appreciated.

MONEY MONEY   Offertory £738.42, Retiring £16.25 and CAFOD £3.80.  The retiring collection next weekend will be in aid of Mass Media.  God bless your support for your Parish.

Love and prayers,
