THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY  is an important solemnity for us. Like most of the Dioceses which were set up in the 19th century, when the hierarchy was restored, our diocese has for its principal patron The Immaculate Conception. Try to come to Mass at 10.00am on Monday – to honour Mary and to acknowledge that by a unique privilege “her Son’s atoning Grace“ she was kept free from original sin. Advent is a good time to dwell especially on Mary as she was waiting for her Child to be born. You may have noticed that there are some flowers or a plant next to our statue of Mary during Advent. The late Bishop Frank Thomas introduced this practice – to honour Mary in this simple way during Advent.

DEAR HOLLY MATHEWS a twenty year old former pupil of St. Teresa’s School died tragically two weeks ago - she had been ill for several years.  Her sorrowing family have asked that Holly should be remembered and prayed for in our church. We shall do that at the 6.30pm Mass next weekend, 13th December. It will be an opportunity for her young friends to gather with Holly’s family - for us it will be yet another occasion when, thank God, we can proclaim His mercy and our faith in the Resurrection of the dead.

CONFESSION DURING ADVENT.  Our Mass of Reconciliation this year will be on Saturday 20th December at 10am. There will be three Priests hearing Confessions after the Mass. An opportunity for us all! In addition, the usual Saturday evening slot for Confessions is available, and you can also arrange to come to Confession at the Presbytery if you prefer. Advent is the time for a clean up. When did you last go to Confession!? Of course there is no need to come if you have no sins….

MASS INTENTIONS  please print clearly on the envelope the intention, your own name and  if you would like a particular date please just let me know, otherwise I say the intention as soon as I can, and enclose your offering. Thank you for the generous offering which many parishioners give – they are part of the priest’s personal income. Remember though please I am always ready to offer Mass for your intention for any fee or none. Just ask!

DEACON RICHARD AND HIS WIFE, RHONA, would like to thank all parishioners for their prayers and Masses.  Richard is recovering nicely and hopes to be with us again soon.

SAUNDERTON LODGE.  Could we all buy one extra Christmas gift this year? There is now a box in the Narthex for Saunderton Lodge, and if you take a label and choose a small gift to suit, you will make someone’s Christmas a little brighter. Thank you.

THE TODDLER GROUP has now broken up for the Christmas period, but will open again in the New Year. They will meet again on Tuesday 20th January from 10.00am onwards. All welcome.

THE CHRISTMAS FEST HAS COME AND GONE  and it was wonderful. Thank you to all parishioners who donated goods, the quantity and the quality was amazing. Thank you to everyone who gave their time to cook, bake, help set up, help put away , and to all who worked so very hard on the day. But especially to all who came on the day and spent at the Fest, supporting and encouraging all the way ! The current net figure raised is £3,142.00.

MONEY MONEY   Offertory £857.80, Retiring Collection £59.29 and CAFOD £4.00. God bless your support for your Church.

Love and prayers,
