RECOGNISING CHRIST  St Peter, at Pentecost, tells his listeners that they have failed to recognise Christ. Peter bears witness to Jesus’ resurrection. Similarly, even Jesus’ disciples on the road to Emmaus fail to recognise Jesus until He breaks bread with them. We too recognise Jesus in the “Breaking of Bread,” but do we recognise Him when we meet Him in the street ?

CENSUS  We last seem to have had a parish census over seven years ago and since that time our records have been updated in an ad hoc way, new people have arrived and others have departed. In order to fill some of the gaps in our records we are having a fresh census this weekend during Mass. Anyone away this week will be encouraged to fill in a form over the next two weeks. Please be so kind as to complete one card for each household.

EASTER BREAK  I shall be going away on my Easter break on Tuesday for one week. Please welcome Father Tom Kenny who will be taking care of you in my absence.

SECOND HAND CHRISTIAN BOOK SALE  after the 6.30pm and 10.00am Masses this weekend  7th/8th May, in the Walsingham Hall. All proceeds to the Church Building Fund.

SEWING GROUP  meets again on the 12th May at 10.30am in the clubroom. On the 26th of May Lynn Kilbride will be joining the group to give advice on Patchwork and introducing the group to Shadow Applique.

ALL PARISHIONERS, OF ANY AGE  or their friends, are invited to the Parish Bible Group discussions, which take place most Thursday evenings in the Clubroom from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. We are back after the Easter break this Thursday (12th) with the emphasis on St John’s Gospel chapters 4&5. Please consider coming along. You will be very welcome.

CAFOD PROJECT SPONSORED WALK   Next Sunday May 15th (see poster outside church) All walkers meet at Whiteleaf Cross Car Park at 1.45pm to start the walk at 2.00pm latest. If you cannot walk with us but would like to sponsor us there is also a form in the Narthex where you can write your name and how much you would like to give. Money raised is for the small town of Musha in Rwanda. Thank you.

CHRISTIAN AID LUNCH   Friday 20th May 12 noon to 1.30pm at the Baptist Top Hall, there will also be books, plants and Traidcraft goods on sale.

ROTAS   Firstly many thanks to all the people who are already on one or more of the current rotas. Our Parish would be lacking so much without all the willing volunteers that we have. It is now time to collate the new rotas and we are always looking for new people. Please consider whether you can help, we need church cleaners, coffee makers (after 10am Sunday Mass) readers, welcomers, offertory procession (10am Mass.) Perhaps there are family groups who could become welcomers or take part in the offertory procession – children love to help and be involved. All ages, young and not so young are valued and have a part to play. If you can help ? please speak to John or Sue Bolton on 343424 or to Polly in the Presbytery office …. Thank you.
