ST TERESA’S PASTORAL COUNCIL met a few days ago after a long gap. The current members are: Fr Gerald, Theresa Aldis,
Sue Bolton, Toby Bucknall, Rhona and Richard Carr, Margaret Cripps, Miles and
Paula Cunningham, Sean and Liz Duffy, Gladys Hajdukeiwicz,
Sandra Heffron, Barbara Nicholson, Jean O’Brien, John
Roach, Celia Sparkes, Brian and Val Stoker, Simon Martin, Paula McAleavey and Iain Wright.
Members are appointed by me but they are to be
representative of the whole parish. I have also undertaken over the years not
to take any major initiatives without consulting first the Pastoral Council. In
Cannon Law the Pastoral Council’s role is to assist the parish Priest in the
pastoral care of the parish. Once again let me say how grateful I am that
things have continued so well since I had my stroke in 2005. The Pastoral Council
discussed the changes which are inevitable with the passing of time. One major
fact is the ageing of many priests and how it may be helpful to lighten their
work load – perhaps by reducing the number of Masses at the week-end. This is
not for now but it is something we will have to face. We should try to see the
positive side of fewer Masses - it would enhance our sense of belonging to St
Teresa’s Parish Community - i.e if more parishioners
were to attend two Masses rather than three. Ideally we should have only one !
ST SCHOLASTICA’S DAY
on Tuesday is an occasion when we can all think with gratitude of St Scholastica’s Retreat and the good work which is done there
under the supervision of Sean and Liz Duffy and Maureen Brennan, for retired
Catholics. In my experience over the many years, lots of residents of the
Retreat come to daily Mass, making this a powerhouse of prayer for us all. Mass
on Tuesday will be at 11.00am to enable as many residents as possible to
attend.
ST. T,S FC The children in year 6 help to
plan the programme each year and this time they asked for an outing……so, we are
going 10 pin bowling on Sunday 22nd February! We will be leaving St
T’s car park at 4.00pm and will return by 6.00pm. If you would like to come,
whether you have been before to the club or not, please sign your name
on the form in the Narthex so that we can book the appropriate number of lanes.
A QUIZ NIGHT FOR
BREAST CANCER CARE will be held on 28th February in the Walsingham
hall starting at 7.45pm. Admission is £7.50 and this includes a plowman’s supper (bring your own drink.) If
you would like tickets for this very worthwhile cause please phone Veronica
McCarthy on 01844 346017.
MOTHERS AND TODDLERS GROUP would like to say welcome to all babies, toddlers and mothers within
the parish. You are all invited to join the group, we
meet every Tuesday morning (during term time) from 10.00am to 11.45am in the
clubroom.
MONEY, MONEY.
Offertory £610.00, Retiring Collection £35.71 and CAFOD £4.00.
God bless your support for your Church.
Love and prayers,
