OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY
to the Surman
family on the death, in a road
accident a few days ago, of their beloved sister Janet. Our
thoughts and prayers too for Janet’s husband and step children. We are
so grateful to the family firm, Surman and Horwood Undertakers, for the reverence and respect shown at
funerals in our parish. When death comes to them they can draw on their
Christian faith – but the shock of such a sudden death is as difficult for them
to endure as it is for any of us. May Janet rest in peace.
Another death ,
that of our dear friend and fellow parishioner Albert Rigby, took place on
Saturday 24th October. Albert was a stalwart of our parish -for many
years he worked hard for our Christmas Bazaar setting up all the stalls and
after the event taking them down again. Albert was a kind, humble man – a great
support to me his priest and to many others. He died
in hospital with a photograph of his beloved wife Pat in his hand. When I
anointed him a few days before he died he could still make the sign of the
cross. May he rest in peace. For us who are left we
know that death is only a temporary separation. May we find comfort in the sure knowledge that our
life is changed by death – not ended.
CHRISTIAN AID will hold their usual monthly lunch this
Thursday 5th November at the Baptist Church Hall from 12.00 to
1.30pm. Three courses with tea or coffee at £5.50 All are welcome to join us.
