ANOTHER ADVOCATE We are very familiar with the account of Pentecost given in the Acts of the Apostles. St John, however, tells of Jesus imparting His Spirit on the day of His resurrection. It is of this text that the revised translation of the missal wishes to remind us. When the celebrant says, “The Lord be with you,” he wishes that Jesus shows His favours to the people. The congregation answers, “And with your spirit,” that is the spirit that the celebrant has received from Jesus in order to be able to perform His ministry in the Church
PLEASE PRAY FOR Michael Stanley (who together with Jo Boyce has co-composed Masses, hymns and Born for This). He is seriously ill with cancer and has a young family.
MANY THANKS Father Gerald’s funeral took place this week and many of you have been involved in the preparations. An event of this scale was achieved without an organising committee. This shows what can be done in a “Stewardship Parish” when many individuals take responsibility of their own area of responsibility. There are too many of you to thank individually but your efforts do you great credit. The school provided the Order of Service and choir and so continue to be very closely associated with the parish. Thank you, everyone who contributed in any way.
IF YOU WERE UNABLE TO ATTEND FATHER GERALD’S
REQUIEM MASS
And you would like a copy of the Order of Service, there is a form pinned to the notice board by the door in the Narthex, please write your name and we will put a copy aside for you.
THIS WEEKEND Stefan Zachery and Bryan Hill from the Knights of Columbia will be with us at each Mass to talk to us about the Knights of Columbia. They will also be available in the Narthex after each Mass to answer questions or give more information.
