WALKING HUMBLY WITH GOD
The
process continues and I want to thank Sean Duffy for
taking the lead for our parish. Thanks to everyone who came to the DVD which
Sean showed last Sunday in the Clubroom. The basic
fact which needs to dawn on us all is that due to the shortage of priests, and
of priestly vocations, we all have to think again. In the past our expectation
was that Mass came to the people Dozens of churches and Mass centres were
opened in the 1950s and 1960s so that the Catholic people could come to Mass
without too much exertion. Things are gradually changing, because and only
because, there are now insufficient priests for Mass in all these churches and
chapels which were built during the days of plenty. We shall continue to wait
patiently and to walk humbly so that the Holy Spirit will show us the way
ahead. Remember Bishop Thomas Episcopal motto doce me vias tuas show me (Lord) your
way. Part of the process will be meeting with the Bishop next Tuesday at Great
Missenden. The Bishop will meet the clergy of our Pastoral Area at 5.30 pm on
Tuesday 19th and at 7.00pm on that day there will be a Mass open to
all Catholics who live in our Pastoral Area. Try to come to this Mass. It would
be both an important gathering of Catholics in our area and an opportunity for Bishop Peter to talk to us frankly of his concerns.
FATHER TOM leaves us this Sunday after
the 8.00am Mass and returns on Sunday 21st February. Bishop Peter
wants me to keep my retirement date of the 14th February so the
Bishop will ensure that you have a priest for Ash Wednesday (17th
February) and for the first week end in Lent (20/21st February)
Father Tom comes back to us on the 21st and will stay thereafter
throughout Lent until Holy Week and Easter. This is all I can say at the
present but as soon as I have had more news from the Bishop I shall let you
know. These are difficult times: thank you for your patience and understanding.
THIS SUNDAY is Peace Sunday, and
the retiring collection this Sunday is for Pax Christi.
The work of Pax Christi is based on the Gospel and
inspired by faith. Our vision is of a world where people can live in peace,
without fear of violence in all its forms Please be generous if you can, thank
you.

snowed in and unable to get to Mass last week. It is now time to renew your

Narthex for an envelope with your name on it. If you are not already a member
but would like to join this monthly draw, please pick up a pink slip from the
Narthex or speak to Richard or Rhona Carr. Thank you.
THE SEWING GROUP will meet again this Thursday at 10.30a.m. in the Club Room. All
are very welcome.
