MANY THANKS to all who made last Sunday’s cricket match such a lovely occasion.  We were blessed with good weather, a splendid barbeque and lots of nice drinks.  None of it just appeared, though it seemed so! – so thanks again Theresa, Richard and the helpers for making it all possible.  Thank you again, Margaret and James and your children, for opening your lovely house and grounds to us.  As your poor old priest all I had to do was to thank God for so much good will and such happiness shared by so many parishioners, young and old.

LUMOS.  Fourteen of our young parishioners are at Thornton College this weekend for a time of reflection and celebration.  LUMOS is organised by the Diocesan Youth Service and our young people meet lots of other young Catholics from other parishes up and down the diocese.  Let us hold them in our prayer and thank God that we have such good young people ready to give up their time to deepen their faith and their personal knowledge of Jesus.

IT IS RETREAT TIME and I shall be going with three parishioners, including Deacon Brian, to Hawkstone Hall for a six day retreat led by Father Daniel O’Leary.  Father Tom Kenny will be here in my absence and I am very grateful to him.

IFUNDA PARISH, TANZANIA.  It was great to meet Fr. Alfons Mhamilawa and to hear what a huge task he has in his enormous parish.  In recent years he has been helped greatly by Herta and Alfons Walser and their friends and I think we should help too.  Fr. Alfons has buildings and a water project to maintain.  There will be a one off Special Collection next weekend.

THE CAFOD GROUP will be having a cake sale after each of the weekend Masses next weekend and all proceeds will be going towards this year’s project - Rehabilitation of Child Soldiers.

MONEY MONEY   Offertory £779.05, Retiring collection in aid of the Apostleship of the Sea £183.04.and Cafod £2.00. Next week’s Retiring collection will be in the Ifunda Parish in Tanzania.  God bless your support for your Church.

Love and prayers,
