I WRITE this
on Wednesday when we keep the memorial of St Bernard a Doctor of the Church. After the week-end I go to Lisieux to
spend some time with St Teresa of
the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face, another Doctor of the Church. Perhaps in
God’s time the venerable John Henry Newman soon to be beatified will be
recognised by the Church as a Doctor ….. one who’s teaching is eminently worthy
and eminently proclaimable. Holiday times can be the occasion of thinking about
our patron saints and our guardian angels …. They will help us not forget our
beloved friends at home and especially in St Teresa’s Parish.
CONGRATULATIONS to the winners of the Church monthly
draw for August, 1st
Prize to Ingrid-Goss Gardner and 2nd Prize to Mr and Mrs Peter Stickney, well done.
