SWINE FLU PRECAUTIONS
Holy Communion from the chalice is
suspended until further notice. Holy
Communion in the form of bread should only be received in the hand. There
should be no physical contact at the Sign of Peace – a bow will convey the bond
of unity which the Sign of Peace is meant to express. I think that for the bow to
convey appropriately the unity of St. Teresa’s family it should be accompanied
by a smile…. Not too broad! These precautions arise from the advice Bishop
Peter has given because of the pandemic. So we shall not need Eucharist
ministers to serve on the Altar at Mass until further notice, thank you.
THE YEAR FOR PRIESTS I hope you like the prayers we are
saying after the Mass – perhaps soon we shall know them by heart. Fidelity for
priests depends very much on their developing a prayerful heart as indeed it
was true for the Our Lord. “Early in the morning” He rose and went to pray.
Help your priests by praying for them – that’s what Pope Benedict is calling
for: I know that lots of St Teresa’s parish family pray for me and I am very
grateful. Entrust me and any other priests you know to the loving care of St
Teresa. It was one of her chief reasons for entering
THE NEW PASTORAL AREAS have been brought into being as an
initiative to help us all feel more involved in the life of the Church, the new
pastoral areas are smaller than the previous deaneries. We no longer are
aligned with Aylesbury according to the Bishop’s plan. A steering group is to
be set up by the priests of the new pastoral areas and the plan is that the
steering group will work with the Dean and the Parish Priests to make our part
of the Diocese a vibrant community of committed and active Catholics. From the
plan (In the narthex) our new pastoral area is Haddenham,
Long Crendon, Great Missenden with Wendover and our own parish of St Teresa’s. For the
Bishop’s vision to work a great deal of careful pondering and planning has to
take place. Above all we must have good will towards our new pastoral area and
do our best to make it work. The priests of the area have met to set up a
steering group to take things forward. The first step will be to select a
worthy parishioner to be proposed to the Bishop as our nomination for the
Pastoral Area Link (PAL) who will work closely with the Dean to make things
happen. Watch this space!
SO WELL DONE JULIA Who would have thought that when
Julia Gossage ‘set up stall’ at Thame

own CAFOD project, the rehabilitation of child soldiers in the Congo. Well done
Julia.
