LEADING FOR A CHANGE   was a conference for Year 12 students held last week at Blackfriars and St John’s College, Oxford University. It was sponsored by CAFOD and the Charles Plater Trust. Its theme was ‘Conflict and Peace Building’ and its aim was to encourage into action the 120+ young people who attended to work together, in their school groups, in order to bring forward inspired young leaders. We were approached at St Teresa’s and asked if we could send two of our young people to lead an hour long workshop. On behalf of our youth group, STYLE (St Teresa’s Youth Linking Everyone) Kian Guerzoni and Emilie Daly agreed to attend and they spoke most enthusiastically and professionally on the planning, organisation and result of the concert they organised at St Teresa’s 18 months ago, which raised over £1700 for the reintegration and rehabilitation of child soldiers in Sierra Leone. We are very grateful to Kian and Emilie and all the young people who took part in the concert as the good it has done has been far reaching in so many ways. Kian and Emilie were presented with an Oscar Romero crucifix to bring back to our parish and this will soon be displayed for you all to see. Our grateful thanks, once again to Kian, Emilie and all the young people who are showing themselves as inspired young leaders and who are clearly making a positive difference to our world.
