ADVENT THE ACCEPTABLE TIME  begins this weekend. It is a time for letting the Lord find us, letting him knock on our door, listening and opening it…We do that in many different ways

1.      We can try to be better Christians at home, in our Parish… wherever we are. Remember we are not simply church goers…we are disciples of Jesus. Especially when the going is tough.

2.      We can draw on Our Lord’s strength in our life of prayer…Does our daily prayer need a bit of a brush up? I find it a good thing to have a few prayers I say every day. You might like to try this out: “Guide my heart Almighty God that I may remember your presence day and night”.  Our hearts can be full of things which do not matter.  Advent is the time for a clear out. Don’t forget that on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm in the Church there will be an opportunity to reflect on and pray with the readings for the coming Sunday’s Mass… Just one hour of your time!

CHANGE OF DATE   Father Daniel O’Leary has asked if he may change the date we agreed and advertised in the newsletter from 25th April 2009 to18th April 2009, just one week earlier. I hope that lots of parishioners will want to come and hear Father Daniel speak. He is inspiring as readers of the Tablet will know, as well as those who have met him.

St.T’sFC: meet 15 minutes earlier this Sunday at 5.45 p.m. so that we can watch the turning on of the Christmas tree lights on the green opposite our church at 6 p.m.  We will then return to Walsingham Hall and continue with a variety of activities in an Advent/Christmas way.  All children in Years 4, 5 and 6 are welcome to join the fun.

STYLE:  meet next Friday evening from 7 – 9 p.m. in Walsingham Hall. All young people of senior school age are welcome.  Come with warm coats and a little pocket money as we may walk down the High Street to see the Christmas lights and join the Risborough jollities!

CAROLS AT RISBOROUGH ‘LIGHTS’  The lights go on for all of us this Friday, 5th December. We thank all those who have joined this merry throng in past years, but it would be wonderful to gather many more folk from all churches to join in with the town folk of Princes Risborough in celebrating the real meaning of Christmas. We gather at 6.00pm in the Market Square.

CHRISTIAN AID are holding a lunch on Thursday, 4th December from 12.00 noon to 1.30pm at the Baptist Church Hall.  A three course lunch plus tea or coffee will be £5.50.  New friends will be very welcome indeed.

THIS SUNDAY  30th November, Churches Together  are holding the Advent Service at St John’s Church, Lacey Green. The service will start at 6.00pm. Please attend if at all possible, it is a lovely way for all Christians to enter into the first week of Advent.

MONEY MONEY   Offertory £734.20, Retiring Collection £46.66 and CAFOD £4.00. God bless your support for your Church.

Love and prayers
