CANDLEMAS, or the Presentation of the Lord, we keep on Monday.  There will be blessing of candles in the narthex at 10.00 a.m. followed by procession into the church for Mass.  The Presentation of the Lord in the Temple evokes His presence to us now in our life of faith.  We are His temples: the candles remind us of the Light of Christ we carry in our hearts.  Try and come – it is a beautiful feast, close to our Catholic heart.

CHANGE, CARDINAL NEWMAN SAID, is the only sign of life. Our Parish Secretary and my Personal Assistant, Barbara Nicholson has decided that it is time to make a change and she leaves her post with the Diocese and the parish this week. Barbara remains a parishioner and a member of St Teresa’s Pastoral Mission Team and of our Liturgy Group. It will take a little while to put in place a way of managing without Barbara, but I am sure that we shall. Polly becomes our Parish Secretary and her hours are Tuesday 12.00 to 5.00pm, Wednesday 2.00 to 5.00pm and Thursday 2.00 to 5.00pm. I would be grateful if routine enquiries could be routed now through Polly. We are fortunate in having three Deacons and they will always know how to contact me.

I would like to acknowledge on behalf of us all our debt to Barbara for so many years. It will not be easy for me to do without her cheery “morning” every week day but I appreciate that it is now or never for her – she has several more years to work, more than I could expect to have myself here as your priest. But I shall keep going as long as I can.

Thank you again, and again for your understanding. No priest could be more blessed than I am with his parishioners.

PALM CROSSES.  The Catechism Club burn last year’s palms to make the ashes used on Ash Wednesday. If you have any palms at home from last year please leave them in the narthex any time between now and the Sunday before Ash Wednesday.  Thank you.

STYLE:  Yes, we know you’ve got it, why not come and share it this coming Friday (6th February) from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m.?  If you’re 11 to 18, whether your name is Timothy or Pat(ricia) there’ll be a welcome on the mat!

SAUNDERTON LODGE would like to thank everyone who gave so generously towards the Christmas presents for the families living at the Lodge.

FAIRTRADE will be on sale after each of the Masses next weekend February 7th and 8th.

CHURCH DEVELOPMENT DRAW.  Congratulations to the January winners of the draw, 1st prize to Claire Dutton and 2nd prize to Ingrid Goss-Gardner.  Well done.

CHRISTIAN AID will hold a lunch on Thursday, 5th February at the Baptist Church Hall from 12.00 noon to 1.30 pm. There will be three courses plus tea or coffee for £5.50.  Everyone welcome.

MONEY, MONEY.  Offertory £618.47, Retiring Collection £24.42 and CAFOD £4.10.  God bless your support for your Church.

Love and prayers,
