CANDLEMAS     On Tuesday we keep the Feast of Candlemas, the Presentation of the Lord Jesus the Light of the World comes to the heart of the chosen people. He comes to the Temple in Jerusalem and we hope and pray that Jesus the Light of the World comes to us. On Tuesday, Candlemas, there will be a blessing of candles in the Narthex at 10.00am followed by Mass.

PARTING IS SUCH SWEET SORROW   who said that to whom, when and why? This is a stressful indeed sorrowful time for me but parishioners are being so kind and I feel fine. Let’s hope and pray that this will last. “Guide my heart Almighty God so that I remember your presence day and night” My little flat in the Retreat is being redecorated nicely and it is beginning to look just right for an ageing ecclesiastic. I am so grateful for all the love and support I am being given. You are the mighty presence of God to me. That’s how He works!!

CHRISTIAN AID    Please come on Thursday 4th February to the Baptist Church Hall from 12.00noon to 1.30pm for a three course lunch with tea or coffee, just £5.50 per head. All are very welcome.

CELEBRATING 50th ANNIVERSARY OF CAFOD’S FAMILY FAST DAY   In1960 Catholic Parishes across England and Wales held the first Family Fast Day to help mothers and children in the Caribbean. Fifty years on we continue to work together to support families and individuals facing poverty and disaster. Please come and join our celebration at Northampton Cathedral at 2.00pm on Saturday the 13th February.

Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Peter and there will be an exhibition of CAFOD’s work over the past 50 years. The CWL and UCM in the diocese were the initiators of the first Fast Day and provided the inspiration and organisation behind the founding of CAFOD. We will be highlighting their work. Light refreshments will follow. All are welcome.
