PENTECOST SUNDAY
50 days after the Passover the Holy
Spirit came to the Apostles and Our
Lady, filled them with his Love and sent them to preach the Good News. We who
look to the Apostles and Our Lady as our role models in our life of faith are
here today at Mass through the power of the Holy Spirit whom we received at our
Baptism. We would not be here without God’s grace and that grace comes to us
from the life of the Blessed Trinity – God makes Himself
present to us through His Holy Spirit. Now is the time for each of us to make
sure the Holy Spirit is active in our lives. We can tell how active the Holy
Spirit is through what the Catechism calls the Fruits of the Holy Spirit
“Charity, JOY, peace, patience etc” Just check out today how much
charity, joy, peace and patience you can see in your lives.
THE PARISH PASTORAL MISSION COUNCIL meets next on
29th June at 8.00pm, the current members are Theresa Aldis, Sue Bolton, Toby Bucknall, Richard and Rhona Carr,
Margaret Cripps, Miles and Paula Cunningham, Sean and Liz Duffy, Gladys Hajdukeiwicz, Sandra Heffron,
Barbara Nicholson, Jean O’Brien, John Roach, Celia Sparkes, Brian and Val
Stoker, Simon Martin, Paula McAleavey, Iain Wright
and me.
The members are chosen by me to be
broadly representative of the Parish and I have agreed that no initiative of a
substantial nature will be taken by me without it being passed by the Council.
I think that it is time to bring in a little more formality to the Council and
we shall begin the process at the June 29th meeting.
