BISHOP PETER popped in during the week and made his
very welcome remarks about how he
found the poor old priest. He met, not for
the first time, my great niece Lucy who was in the process of making a fish pie
in preparation for a further family visit – my nephew Jim and his son Gareth.
It is lovely for me to have visits from my young relations and I think it is
good for it to be known within the parish that I am visited by family. Lots of
parishioners know my brother Bernard and his wife, my very beloved sister-in-law
Margaret. Bishop Peter has met most of my family and I am so grateful for their
love and support. As the years go by though as I mentioned to
Bishop Peter I am so grateful for my parish family. My dearest wish for
St Teresa’s is that when all her parishioners come into the Church they feel that they are coming home.
LIGHTHOUSE 2008 Is July 28th to August 1st
and we are urgently looking for more adult
helpers in responsible roles. As yet we have no Age Group Leaders for 10-11 age group.
The role consists of….co-ordinating planned activities for
the age group, lead and support the older teenage helpers (16+) and
younger teenage helpers (12+). Lead Lighthouse teaching sessions (all prepared)
and present a Bible story each day with a follow-up worksheet. Plenty of
support will be provided. Or you may be able to help in the role of a
Lighthouse Keeper which consists of more direct contact with children of
various ages 5-11 years. Ingrid Gardner will be happy to tell you more about
the roles on 01844 347996. Lighthouse plays an important part in many childrens lives, and sometimes the only contact they have
with God throughout the year. Out of 540 children registered last year only 52%
were churched. Please consider helping us spread God’s word this year. We also have a request for craft items, old
birthday cards and wrapping paper, again please contact Ingrid.
PARISH PARTY,CRICKET MATCH & BBQ
Is next
Sunday July 13th. When you come please
bring with you your own picnic plates, cutlery and mugs. Also bring
something to sit on!! Arrive from 12.30 on. Cricket starts at 2.00, cricket tea
at 4.00 and barbecue from 6.00pm. Please talk to Deacon Richard if you need any
help with transport.
DAY FOR LIFE The Day in the Church’s year dedicated to celebrating the
sacredness of life – this year will focus on mental health and the proceeds of
the Day for Life collection will go to the Linacre Centre for Healthcare Ethics
and other life-related activities supported by the Church. “The Lord is close
to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit” Envelopes in the
Narthex.
PARENTS AND TODDLERS The parent and toddler group have now finished
for this term and have broken up for the summer holidays, they will start again
in September.
MONEY MONEY Offertory £891.15, Retiring
collection (St Peter’s Pence) £65.05 and Cafod £2.00. This week’s Retiring collection will be in
aid of Day for Life, and next weeks retiring collection will be for Apostleship
of the Sea. God bless your support for your Church.
