WELCOME AGAIN FATHER TOM KENNY  I am going to spend a quiet week or so with my family in South Wales. I am very grateful to Father Tom for making this possible and I am very glad that you will have him with you during Lent. It is always good to have a visiting priest for those who may like a choice of confessor. Penance is a wonderful sacrament and it involves, don’t forget, contrition, confession and a firm purpose of amendment. God bless your response to God’s call to make a difference to yourselves and to where you live and with whom you live because it is Lent. For those parishioners who prefer a community expression to our sorrow for our sins there will be the normal Mass including the penitential rite on Monday 6th April at 8.00pm.

PARISH MEETING ABOUT THE DIOCESAN PASTORAL PLAN  Walking humbly with our God”: you may remember that this message from the prophet Micah was on our banners before Lent. It is also the name of Bishop Perter’s pastoral development plan for the Diocese. I would like as many parishioners as possible to join together to explore, and respond to, the Bishop’s vision for the Diocese. It will also be an opportunity to reflect on our own faith and our role as members of both parish and Diocese. Come to the gathering on Saturday, 28th March, in the Walsingham Hall from 10.30 am to 1.00pm. We are living in challenging times that offer us great opportunities for growth and development. Please make a date in your diary and come.

THE NATIONAL BOARD OF CATHOLIC WOMEN (NBCW)  is an umbrella body of national organisations and diocesan networks; it is a consultative body to the Bishop’s Conference and is linked to the United Nations and to European and World networks of Catholic Women’s Organisations. The Board is made up of ‘diocesan links’  from individual dioceses, and Bishop Peter has decided that our diocese should be represented (after a break of some years) Our ‘diocesan link’ is Maura Potter from Burnham, and she works with a core group to create opportunities to listen to the views and concerns of women across the diocese. The next such opportunity, open to all interested Catholic women, will be at Christ the Cornerstone, Milton Keynes, on Saturday 21st March, 11am to 3pm. Lunch can be bought there. The agenda is; the future role of women in a changing church: how we can include those who feel left out or invisible; adult education in the church. Do come! Further information from Liz Duffy, who is a member of the core group.

PLEASE COME  and listen to the wonderful Aylesbury Consort of Voices choir who are generously performing in our church to raise money for the CAFOD project of 2009 ‘children of the Congo’ This musical evening takes place next Saturday (14th March) at 7.45pm, there will be an interval where refreshments will be served and the evening should come to a close at around 9.30pm. Tickets on sale in the Narthex after each Mass this week end. Please show your support.

CAFOD LENT FAST DAY ENVELOPES  If you didn’t collect one from the Narthex last week end could you please pick one up on your way out of Church this week end. So little can go so far.
