Mission
The Mission Team’s purpose is to help a parish grow in a number of ways:
•Planning and delivering events to help a parish come alive
•Transform the parish culture allowing people to encounter Jesus and grow spiritually
•Providing a place where everybody has the opportunity to serve out their individual gifts and talents.
Mission is a diocesan led transformation programme. There is a small core team to help with planning, but involvement from everyone is encouraged.
Pope Francis wants every institution in the Church to advance the path of a pastoral and missionary conversion so that “the Church’s customs, ways of doing things, times and schedules, language and structures can be suitably channelled for the evangelisation of today’s world rather than for her self-preservation.”
Building on synodality (journeying together as a community) will provide a Church that “listens, which realises that listening ‘is more than simply hearing’. It is a mutual listening in which everyone has something to learn”.
