GOD’S FRIENDS Jesus reveals everything about himself to His followers because He loves them. He reveals the mystery of the Trinity: how the Father and Son are one and they will send their Holy Spirit to be our helper. The Trinity is acknowledged in today’s second reading as St Paul ends his letter to the Corinthians and God’s friendship is seen in his willingness to forgive the headstrong people who had worshipped the golden calf. Jesus tells Nicodemus that God, motivated by sheer love, took the initiative and sent His only Son as Saviour.
SATURDAY WORD AND COMMUNION (REMINDER) For quite a time now the number attending have been very low and it has been difficult to find ministers to take the Service. At the last Pastoral Council meeting, it was decided that, when the present rota ended, Saturday Liturgy of the Word and Holy Communion should cease. From next week there will be no Word and Communion on Saturday morning’s but there will be a Saturday morning Mass on the first Saturday of each month as a general rule.
INSIDE THE NEWSLETTER is an invitation to this year’s Parish Party and Cricket Match. There is a box in the Narthex for the reply slip, please complete it and bring it back next weekend so that the organiser’s have an idea of numbers attending.
ANOTHER £78.00 has been raised for the Church Building Fund from the proceeds of the Christian book sale, thank you.
COOK BOOKS FOR FATHER’S DAY This weekend (18th/19th of June) after each of the weekend Masses, the ‘Feelgood Food’ Cookbook , created by friends of Maplewood Special needs School (the school that our Julie Gibbs attends) will be on sale in the Narthex for just £5.00 each (the perfect Father’s Day gift). By purchasing this book you will be helping the school fundraise to obtain items for the children that the normal school budget cannot provide.
THE FIRST HOLY COMMUNION MASS will be next Sunday, 26th June, at 10.00am. We would like to make this a Parish celebration and with just 8 families celebrating this year there is plenty of room for all of us. Please come and support the children and pray with them. Following Mass there will be a reception in the Presbytery garden.
WINNERS OF THE CHURCH DEVELOPMENT DRAW for the month of June are Elizabeth Janes 1st Prize and Pat Roberts 2nd Prize. Well done to both of you.
THE PARISH BIBLE GROUP needs more Parishioners, or friends of Parishioners, but recognise that Thursday evenings do not suit everyone. If you might be interested in coming, but not if it remains on a Thursday, please could you contact either Monica White on 01844 347651 or Roger Beavil roger@ukbeavil.co.uk or any other member of the Bible Group, to indicate the days in the week that would generally suit you better, thank you.
TANZANIA CHARITY please see the poster in the Narthex and in the notice board outside church. There is to be a fund raising Hog Roast on Saturday 2nd July.
