“VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE,” “SEEN AND UNSEEN” These are words from our creed; new and old. These words are also quite apt for our readings at
Mass today. Samuel in visiting the sons of Jesse can only see the outward
“appearances whereas the Lord looks at the heart.” To the man born blind
everything is invisible until Christ “the light of the world” comes across him.
The “Jews” who reject Christ continue in darkness and so do not see even though
they claim not to be blind. In our own journey through Lent we ask ourselves
whether we reject the truth and are still in darkness or do we see with our
eyes of Faith.
THIRD SCRUTINY (Rite
of Christian Initiation of Adults) Kirsty, who with Alison is to be received
into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil will be presented with the Lord’s
prayer following the Third Scrutiny at the 10.00am Mass on Sunday 10th
April.
MISSION APPEAL Every year we have two
collections for the foreign missions. There is the general collection in
October and one other for specific missionary society. This year it is the turn
of the White Fathers and next weekend Fr. Frank Nolan will be joining us to
tell us about their work in
ENGLISH BACCALAUREATE Religious Education (RE) has
been omitted from this new baccalaureate to be introduced into our schools. If no provision is made for RE, it will make curriculum planning
very difficult in our Catholic schools. RE is very important in dealing
with questions such as the meaning of life. Please write to your M.P. asking
him to support Early Day motion 1375 which supports the inclusion of RE.
RED BOX APF Please collect your brown
envelopes from your pigeon holes in the Narthex.
