A TIME OF
DEPARTURES Today we celebrate the Feast of the
Ascension, when Jesus said farewell to His disciples and returned to His Father
in heaven. Similarly, Father Gerald, who has been with us in a different way,
after over thirty years in the Parish, has also said ‘farewell’ and departed to
be with his father. Last Sunday, Christ promised us that we would not be left
orphans. Just as Christ left us the Church, so did Father Gerald leave us his church.
Much of what we have today was built up by Father
Gerald and his many years of service. Let us not be downhearted but give God
thanks for what we have received and go ‘make disciples of all the nations’
knowing that we are not alone in the work we do.
